Community Update: Positive Partnership Working on Railway Street |
||
|
Dear Residents and Community Members,
We would like to share a positive update regarding recent activity on Railway Street.
Following concerns raised about a tented encampment that was causing not only nuisance but also presenting health and safety risks to the wider community, we worked closely with our partners to address the situation in a supportive and coordinated way.
Four Police Officers attended alongside Council staff to ensure the matter was managed safely, respectfully, and with the welfare of all involved at the forefront. As a result of this joint approach, the tent has now been removed, and the area has been cleaned and made safe.
Importantly, support was offered to both individuals who had been staying at the location. We recognise the impact situations like this can have on residents and local businesses, particularly where there are concerns around safety, hygiene and public space. At the same time, we remain committed to treating everyone with dignity and ensuring that vulnerable individuals are offered help and support.
This outcome demonstrates the value of strong partnership working between the Police and the Local Authority, ensuring that community concerns are balanced with compassionate, practical solutions.
Finally, as we approach the holiday period, we would like to thank you for your continued support and cooperation throughout the year. We wish all residents a happy, safe, and peaceful festive season and a positive start to the New Year.
Kind regards,
Caledonian Safer Neighbourhoods Team
